  Our Outreach group meets the last Friday of most months to sew pillowcases and baby quilts for the many children in need around the Bay Area. 

  We will pin baste quilts and process pillowcases. If you plan to sew, please bring your machine and general sewing supplies. Kits are available for quilt tops and pillowcases.

  Alethea Ballard

  Alethea creates vibrant and exciting quilts using clear colors and cheerful images. Bouncing between sewing pieced quilts using large-scale prints and and creating interesting collages, she fills her quilting life with beautiful fabrics and eclectic imagery. Althea seeks to combine bold, graphic images with elements of whimsy and a connective feeling.

  Collage Heart or Wreath with Alethea Ballard

  Beginning with a fabric with a smiling face, a pretty bird, or a central image of your choice, you will fuse, cut and press to create a small fabric collage. Althea will share her working style in which she creates unique, meaningful, and sometimes unhinged, collaged vignettes. Using scale, color and value to tell a story are at the heart of this process. Alethea will discuss finishing options and a demonstration of quilting the completed works. 

  Optional Kit from Teacher - $45 (pay at the workshop).

  December is just around the corner and you know what that means -- ski season has started at Tahoe and it's time for the DVQ Holiday Party!

  Where:  The Social Hall at the Danville Congregational Church (where we meet). 
  
  When:  Wednesday, December 2, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

  We will have coffee, tea and water. 

  After dinner we will draw the winner of our 2025 Opportunity Quilt, reveal our 2026 Opportunity Quilt, and draw for door prizes. Before you give them away, bring those finished quilts for Show and Tell. 
  

  In the spirit of giving, our Outreach program will once again be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children 0 to 6 years old for the Healthy Start program. They can be brought to the Holiday Party or dropped off at the Studio any weekday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until December 11.

  Bea Byrne

  Bea (bee) is an artist and maker originally from England now living in Oakland, California. She teaches online and in-person across the Bay Area on crafts as diverse as dyeing, sewing, candle making, UV resin and more. As well as teaching she also loves experimenting with different styles of quilting, which she also lectures on. She has more than twenty years of teaching experience in three countries and loves to help others feel the joy of making.

  A half-day introduction to this style of patchwork, different designs, and hands-on work with 1" hexagons.   Living a Creative Life

  Jane Haworth

  Jane is a self-taught quilter who draws inspiration from photos of the natural world. Her collages have been exhibited in quilt shows across the U.S., reflecting her love of color, texture, and storytelling through fabric. Jane teaches nationally and internationally, including Quilt Festival Dubai and Empty Spools Seminars. Her work has been featured on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show.  Jane's book, Capture Your Own Life with Collage Quilting  was published in 2023.
